…one of my favorite words, and has become my default, first response to almost every question or proposal.

You Put Yourself First |
![]() By putting yourself first, you’re actually not being selfish. You’re just being realistic. You like to help others as much as the next person… maybe even more. But you know you need to be at the top of your game in order to really give back. You take good care of yourself, and you have learned the art of tactfully saying “no.” It’s all about balance. |
And social excision is a life skill I’ve learned to employ without hesitation. After all, I’ll not be able to help the people that matter most if I allow idiots to monopolize and drain my time, energy, attention, or resources. So, Hell yes, I put myself first!

Amen, Brother! I like that term, “social excision”. I can’t believe there are still some people out there who feel guilty about not buying into every stinking piece of drama that wafts their way as if on the wind of a prevailing fart. I hold my truth and gifts close to my vest as a rule, long ago recognizing people have to come to the light at their own speed and in their own way. Like you, I stay out of other people’s private Idaho as best as I can.

There certainly are. And we’re right to avoid them!
