There is a bittersweet quality to Morley’s words, especially as they apply to our society, in our time.
We live in an age when objective truth has taken a back seat to pragmatism. In other words, those things that objectively exist regardless of how we may perceive them (God, the rule of law, truth, etc.) are deemed to be less important than “what works” or whatever will most effectively help to achieve intended results.
In other words, practicality now trumps truth. This is a very sad state of affairs in which we find ourselves.
