A busy Friday.

After a rough, shallow sleep last night (guess I shouldn’t have eaten that sandwich right before going to bed) I’m facing a busy afternoon and early evening as I race to take care of some outside chores before the wind gets serious.

The National Weather Service has put Bexar County, wherein lies San Antonio and me, under a Wind Advisory from 7:00PM this evening until 7:00PM Saturday. During that time we’re supposed to have steady Tropical Storm force winds. Of course we’re better off in that regard than the folks who live just a few counties to the East of us: they’ll be having steady Hurricane force winds during this time.

After my jaunt outside a few hours from now, I’ll be hunkered down for the duration in this sturdy old hotel which has stood strong against every storm thrown against it for the past hundred years. I’ll be fine. Don’t worry ’bout me.

It is hard to predict how Hurricane Ike will impact Internet service in the area, though. With all the lines and towers that’ll be knocked down across much of the Eastern part of Texas, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit for there to be Internet, phone, and maybe even wireless service outages down here over the next several days until things are put back to normal. So if I go “quiet” for awhile, don’t be overly concerned. I’ll be fine. And I’ll be back online soon.
